Influences and Inspiration.
My method for coming up with concepts for a photoshoot often involves looking for inspiration from the masters in either painting or film. If I see a composition that I admire or that moves me I will do my best to replicate it at the start of a shoot. We set the lights and the space up so that the compositional idea that I like is as close to the originally as we can get. I take a couple of photos and then we abandon the original concept and improvise. Usually this involves playing some loud music and basically having a blast but mitigating this with careful and meticulous attention to detail. I can’t think of a better way to spend the afternoon.
